Christopher & John Greenwood

Christopher & John Greenwood published a very fine series of large detailed English County maps between 1829-34, based on their own surveys of the years 1817 to 1834.

The maps show villages, hamlets and farms by name, with roads and by-roads.

Each map has a large vignette of famous building in the county, and often some original hand colouring.

Christopher & John Greenwood are also noted for some magnificent very large-scale folding maps, which they made from their own surveys, and which included all English counties except Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Hercfordshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Oxfordshire and Rutland.
