Hugo Allard

- cartographer, antique maps -

Allard was the founder of the publishing and engraving business which flourished in the second half of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century.

His son, Card, and his grandsons Abraham and Hugo, continued the business.

Most of their publications were reprints of plates they had purchased, but some were their own work which was of a high quality and now scarce. Their most important work - Atlas Major, dates from c.1710.
