John Tallis

John Tallis issued a fine and ornate series of maps of all parts of the world from around 1850.

Each Tallis map has a decorative border and is embellished with vignettes of views, natives and animals.

Tallis also published some very good town plans, each with a decorative border and vignettes of principal buildings and scenes.

Tallis maps of Australia are of particular interest and importance, as different issues show the development of the interior of the states, the gold fields, and other features.
