Georg Matthaüs Seutter

Seutter was born in 1678 and apprenticed by his father, a goldsmith, to John Baptist Homann at Nürnburg in 1697.

He later opened his own business in Augsburg, which proved a great success, and he published several atlases and many maps.

Unsurprisingly his maps closely resemble those of Homann in style, with their heavy black engraving and large title pieces often made up of a profusion of figures, flora, natural curiosities, and fauna. He died in 1756.
